TRAVEL AND EXPENSE

Planes, Trains, and Pre-Approvals—Beginning in July, you will need to fill out a pre-trip request for authorization whenever you are booking Rutgers-related travel through the Rutgers Travel Online Booking Tool and Direct Travel. The change will go into effect July 1, with the launch of the Travel and Expense Management project. And in preparation for the system launch, please take note of some upcoming expense- and travel-related deadlines.

HUMAN RESOURCES/PAYROLL TRANSFORMATION

Where are We Now?—In May, the HR/P Transformation initiative kicked off a series of “future-state” Business Process Reviews (BPRs). These reviews, involving 250 participants from across the university, will define the business processes that will be in place once the new system is implemented. Read more about them on the HR/P website.

CHART OF ACCOUNTS (COA) PHASE 2

New Job Aid Lends a Helping Hand—The COA project team has created a job aid to help units run the new “RU GL 192 Cumulative Multi-Year Balance Tracking” report from the “Financial Reporting Center” icon in the Oracle Financial Management system. Now staff across Rutgers can access step-by-step guidance on how to report on activity values across multiple periods/years. Read more about it on the COA website.

SCARLET JOURNEY

Dental School says ‘Ahh’ to Streamlined Admissions Process—In April, the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) began using Salesforce Education Cloud as a pass-through for information coming from prospective student applications to Banner, the RSDM’s current student record system. This module includes tools to help improve work in academics, advising, financials, and other areas. More details are coming. In the meantime, check out the SEII website.
