Cornerstone is a multi-year strategic initiative to transform the administrative and student information systems and processes for Rutgers University.
Scarlet Journey/Common App
Since the August 1 launch for academic year (AY) 2024-2025, Rutgers has received to date more than 20,000 prospective first-year, full-time undergraduate applicants and over 3,500 submitted applications through Common App. The volume continues to increase as the application deadline of December 1 approaches. The project team is working on the next phase, which requires integrating official final high school transcripts from the new application into Rutgers’ systems and Salesforce. This integration will allow Rutgers to automatically accept transcripts for Common App applicants from high schools that submit them online.
The project team continues to collaborate on implementing Salesforce system and process enhancements. Current activities include prioritizing updates by Chancellor-led units’ enrollment teams, gathering requirements to facilitate integration of the School of Dental Medicine, and implementing Marketing Cloud for Rutgers Business School and Rutgers Global.
HR/Payroll Transformation
The future is now! With the recent kick-off of interactive design prototype (IDP) workshops, a critical building block for implementing the Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud system, the project has moved into the next phase of transforming the university’s human resources and payroll processing services. During IDPs, the project team will review and document the future state system design. A prototype configuration will be developed with input and direction from the Design Review Board, a select group of representatives from Chancellor-led and central administration units, including University Human Resources, Payroll Services, Institutional Planning and Operations, Division of Continuing Studies, and Information Technology. This approach supports the “One Rutgers” long-term vision.
The project team continues to conduct functional business process review (BPR) sessions assessing current processes, issues, and potential opportunities for improvements and automation. The results of the BPRs will be incorporated into the IDP workshops. Starting in March 2024, the team will focus on future functional processes.
Lastly, the change agent network formed to drive awareness and adoption of the project universitywide will meet starting on October 20.
The Chart of Accounts Phase 2 project team will provide guidance on the Activity segment rollout, programs, and Unrestricted Fund Type 100 project closure to Chancellor-led units and central administration vice presidents by the end of October. The team continues to collaborate with the HR/Payroll Transformation team on department configuration.
