General Navigation in the Financial Management System (Oracle Cloud)

This course provides an overview of the Rutgers financial management project and application. Participants will learn how to: access and log in, define user preferences, save favorites, respond to notifications, navigate to forms, enter data, perform online inquiries, run reports, and use the help menu. This course is intended for all users of the financial management system.

Financial Management for Non-Sponsored Projects

This course covers financial management processes for non-sponsored projects. Participants will learn foundational concepts related to projects in the financial system (Oracle Cloud). Participants will learn how to perform project inquiries, reports, and cost adjustments. This course is intended for employees who will administer non-sponsored projects.

Participants do not need to attend both sponsored and non-sponsored courses.

Financial Management for Sponsored Projects

The course covers financial management processes for sponsored projects. Participants will learn foundational concepts related to awards and projects in the financial system (Oracle Cloud), as well as how to perform award and project inquiries, reports, and project cost adjustments. This course is intended for employees who will administer sponsored projects.

Participants do not need to attend both sponsored and non-sponsored courses.

Financial Inquiries and Reports

This course covers inquiries and reports in the financial system (Oracle Cloud). Participants will learn how to: use the reporting tools available, including Account Inspector, Account Monitor, Financial Reporting Center, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence, and Smart View to run standard financial inquiries and reports. This course is intended for employees who will submit inquiries or run reports.

Journal Entry Processing

This course covers the journal entry process in the financial system (Oracle Cloud). Participants will learn how to: create standard manual journals, accrual and deferral journals, and cash journals. The course will explain the approval process for journals. The course will include a presentation on capturing journal entry comments, creating statistical journals to record forecasted transactions, marking journals as reconciled, and reporting. This course is intended for employees who will enter journal entries.

Approval Management

This course covers the approval process, including expense reports, journal entries, and project adjustments. Participants will learn how to identify, review, reject, re-assign, and approve expense reports and journals. Participants will be taught how to define vacation rules and how to use the timeout feature for journal approvals. This course is intended for employees who will approve project adjustments, journal entries, and expense reports.

This course is also listed under Expense Management, and needs to be taken only once.

Financial Reporting: Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI)

This Virtual Instructor-led Presentation (via Skype for Business) provides an overview of how to run Oracle Reports-Oracle Transitional Business Intelligence (OTBI).  Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence distributes real-time analytics that are embedded into financial business processes, in a format that is easy to understand and allows you to drill down into additional levels of details or switch between a graphical or Excel-like view

Smartview for Financial Management System Reporting

This instructor-led hands-on session provides an overview of how to use SmartView, an Excel and web-based reporting tool available through the Oracle Financial Management System.  This course will include demonstrations of Rutgers Profit & Loss Excel Templates, and Trial Balance Adhoc Templates. Participants are encouraged to bring UDO GL String information for practicing the tool during hands-on section of the session. 

Time Entry and Approval

This deep-dive tactical course combines instruction and hands-on experience to cover the Time and Labor module in PeopleSoft. The course will address topics such as: employee timesheets and Web Clock, entering time on behalf of an employee (timekeeper only), approving time, time reporting codes, rules, exceptions, and generating reports in the system. This course is intended for departmental timekeepers and time approvers.

Commitment Accounting

This deep-dive tactical course combines instruction and hands-on experience, focusing on the Commitment Accounting Module in PeopleSoft. The course will include instruction on setting employee charging instructions, handling common errors, searching and navigating the Chart of Accounts as it pertains to employee salaries, and the Salary and Wage Redistribution and Justification Application. This course is intended for departmental commitment accounting preparers and approvers.
